I have a 58 Gallon, basically FOWLR with a couple of seapens and mushrooms. I noticed lately that I only see my clownfish on the right half of the tank. They never go to the left half?

I have two engineer goby's that have set up a home under the LR on the left side. But, before the engineer goby's were there, thinking back they never hung-out over there anyway. My Tang and cleaner wrasse are all over the tank all day long.

I read in Joyce Wilkerson's book about how they don't stray far from their "home" but, half of 58 gallons, when they have the whole tank to swim in?? They are healthy, eat good and make mating moves every now and then, sleep together in one corner of the tank at night.

Any thoughts?

You answered yourself.... Like Joyce says... they don't stray far from home.....

This is nothing unusual.... nothing to be worried about...

I have a couple of pairs in different tanks.... they hardly ever leave an area of about a cubic foot...

Just as a contrast, mine use the whole tank. It looks like they're dating. They swim around, stopping to eat, stopping to do the shakey dance, etc.

Absolutely normal behaviour. Clowns are territorial, and it seems your clown has established his/her territory. And as J.Wilkerson said,"they don't stray far from home".
