prizm skimmers troubles

i've had my prizm up and running for about 2 months now. it had been working well until about the past week. now it is releasing the microbubbles back into my tank. i tried lowering the level as the manual says, and that reduces the amount of bubbles, but not completely. what's worse is that if i have it that low not skimmate is produced at all. anybody else have similar problems or is mine defective. i know it's not the most expensive skimmer and you get what you pay for but it should work efficiently for more than 2 months.

I don't have a prism but my experience with other skimmers is that unless something is obviosly broken then any differences in skimming is usually related to the unit or it's pump needing to be cleaned, or to the need to break back in after being cleaned. Have you done any of those things?
