I have the chance to pick up a PM Bullet 2 skimmer for 200 clams. I am in the process of designing a 24-320gal reef and was thinking about using this skimmer. I know that it is only rated to 200 gallons but the tank will be lightly stocked with fish. If anyone has used this skimmer I would like to hear the ups and downs. Also what pump is used on it. Thanks in advance for the help.

Regards

Walter

I use a Bullet2 on a 225 gallon tank with a moderate stocking level. I use mine with a MAG18 submersible pump which seems to be about right. I have also heard of people who use as large as MAG24's on them as well.

I have been very happy with it. It comes apart easily for cleaning, skims up a storm and so far (I've had it for 3 months) does not seem to need as much fiddling as my venturi skimmer used to. Pretty much set it and forget it (isn't that an infomercial?). On the downside, the beckett air intake can be somewhat noisy, but there are ways to quiet it down if desired.

Keep in mind that the outlet needs to be above the sump water level. My Bullet2 barely fits under my 36" stand.

$200 would be a bargin in my opinion and would probably work fine for your setup. If you get it and decide to upgrade to something larger later, you are not out much money.
