just wondering. do any of you use any small bulbs or lighting to maintain some luminosity in your tanks at night. i figure some "moonlight" would be good?
I have a 15 watt blue bulb in my canopy for a night light for my 225, and I spent $7.00 at Wal Mart to rig it up. It's just bright enough to make out the tank when all the lights are off in the room. That's when I start checking out the night life. It's amazing the amount of activity at night, and that's when I have discovered new critters that have hitchicked into my tank.
I bought two small light bulbs, a couple of sockets etc from a hardware store and wired one up myself for about $15. Pretty easy and is just the right amount of light. I threw it on a timer so it comes on about 10-15 minutes before the VHO's go out.
I run a four foot blacklight over my tank at night. really makes the GFP shine in the dark. And they'er harmless to the tank contrary to popular beliefe.
I had to wait 6 months for mine to pass Cdn. customs. On their website they list a Texas dealer, but I remember seeing one on the web from Calif. I think the price was around 69$ US. Sorry, can't think of the Calif. dealer right now.
