today has been decided as the day i will tear into the 55gal, set up my 10gal and sell off the rest of my lr and ls. the buyer of the lr and ls is comming over at about 11am to start.

well, wish me luck!! i will take tons of pics since i have a digital cam. so you can see the start and then see what it looks like in a few months

i will be taking ~4" of the established sand bed and enough LR to fill the 10gal. i am taking my 2 occelarus clowns, purple firefish, cleaner shrimp, 10 snails, 4 red hermits, extra shells, 3 shrooms on rocks, a big tonga branch rock that is covered w/ zooanthids, red brain, and gsp.

i hope all goes well and the inhabitants like thier new...."Mini" home.

Why, might i ask??? Or has the "nano bug" hit you??? I too have a 10 gal. "Alcatraz" nano for all of the inhabitants convicted of felonies (mainly attempted murder or in the 1st degree), but why tear down an established setup i know you've had for 6 or so months??? Even if you go with a bigger tank in the near future, it seems to me you should cycle it and then tear down the 55.
Just wondered what was up, and good luck with your nano experience.

i am in college. that is my reason(s). i will be very very very busy next semester and don't have the time to put into my 55gal. a 10gal will be much easier. also, i realized (duh) that i will be moving a lot...so a 10gal is way easier than a 55gal to move. i just don't want to worry about floods, moving stuff, and all the inhabitants. instead i will have an easier set up and still have some reef.

it is better than the option of not having a tank at all!!

i hate it too but it MUST be done!
