Hi,

I wrote about this naso tang I purchased about a week ago stating that he wasn’t feeding. Now things in that respect are fine. The naso is eating formula 1, brine and lots of green seaweed. Now a new problem has developed. The fish has begun to grow some type of internal set of bumps right below his right front fin. The bumps are clearly internal and seem to be pushing against the surface of body from within. They are about pea size in scale. I noticed them yesterday. They haven’t really changed much. He is still feeding actively and his behavior is normal. What is this? Should I worry? What next?

Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure what they are, but it sounds like it's got some sort of embellism, cyst, or parasite growing inside it. I would submit a photo and see if anyone can help you out. It could be a problem that will cause your fish to suffer. Without more description, however, it's hard to say what it is.

How long was the fish not eating? They lose weight very fast. Could be either his insides protruding or his last meal.

If it is also thinning on the other side I would not worry about it.
But you need to feed it more and several times a day. Feed selcon enriched foods and brown algae as well.
They also like a lot of water movement and oxygen so place a powerhead in his swimming area

He was not eating for maybe 2-3 days. he seems to have a heavy diet. i give him a 3 inch by 2 inch piece of green seaweed every day to snack on besides regular meals and he usually finishes in a matter of hours. should i add more?
