adding more rock and sand?

I have a 55g reef with about 40lbs of rock and a very shallow sand bed.My question is can I add about 50lbs of rock and 3 or 4" of sand out of an established tank that has been setup for 3 years.I have to travel about 1.5 hrs to pick it up.How bad will that effect it.Please your opinions are greatly valued!!!

Your new sand and LR will survive the 1.5 hour trip fine. However, there will be some die-off and you will experience another cycle when you introduce it.

Seems like the amount of LR you are planning on is a bit of an excess...

Do you have the ability to use a Q-tank or something to protect your inhabitants while the tank recycles? You are really adding a LOT to an established tank. There is little doubt in my mind that you will run into some issues.

Why don't you bring along a few buckets or a rubbermaid container filled with saltwater?

so you think the 1.5 hr trip will cause to much die off to put it in my tank.I only have a 10g Q tank and I dont think that will hold all of my corals
