I recently set up my new tanks, a 46 gallon b.f. and I used real fine sand as my substrate. I was wondering what types of fish and invertebrates would be good for keeping the sand clean. Thanks in advance for any help.
Cerith and true nassarius snails are bottom feeders. Both look like little snorkelers with their shells below the sand. As soon as they scent something at the surface, they bob up and feast. FFE says that the ceriths will clean the algae that collects just below the surface of the sand, against the glass, although I haven't noticed this area being any more or less clean since I added these snails.
