I have 3 IceCap MH 250 setups I do have some things to report.
All of them flickered and I had to send the units back to the factory for service. The ballasts were tuned to Iwasaki before I purchased them but still had to be send back in.
One still flickers and I have not bothered with it yet.
My main system has started the high frequency buzzing that is starting to drive me nutz. I know that the electronic ballast is more efficient and the lamps should last longer but I hate the high frequency sound, flickering, and higher up front cost.
The buzzing lamps are on a 2 year old system and only one lamp buzzes.. Maybe it is the lamp maybe it is not. However the high frequency driving is causing the sound. I think the electronic HID ballast technology still needs some work. I also think the user should be able to have some adjustment control over the ballast to fix buzzing, and flickering
Which Icecap 250? (there are two). I recently picked up the Icecap 250W (American) for the Ushio 10K 250W bulbs. Although I have only had them for two weeks now, the bulb fired right up and burns strong and clear. The ballast runs cool and I have nothing but good things to say about them so far. It could have something to do with the type of bulbs you choose to run on them though. I give the Icecap 250 (USA) two thumbs up!
I had the IceCap 175Watt and it would cause the bulbs to flicker and go out. One bulb lasted a week he other lasted a couple months. I contacted IceCap and they said it was the bulb or the wiring. I checked all the wiring and my father is an electrician and we checked it all and it was fine. Finally I bought a PFO ballast. In my new system I am doing Aqualine HQI's
