yznhmr ,
X10 is an old technology that work.
The reliability depends on many factors such as , how old are you wires, how many
Sub-panels do you have, the amount of current running on the x10 module and how much "noise" is on the line you are running.

All these factors will determine the length & reliability of the x10.

--Hope this helps.

I have been using X-10 on my tanks for 2 years. I run lights, powerheads, a chiller, a heater and some fans. I have had 2 appliance units fail that were running the powerheads and turning on and off all day long (24/7).

Anyone have any remote garage door opener issues with it? We had a unit similar in the store but the guy who bought it took it back because every time he opened up the garage with a remote the lights on his tank shut off...

i plan on using the applience modules for my lights, and a main shutoff for my main pump and wave timer( for feeding and water changes) also thought about setting it up to do a auto water change. Power head pumping out water to a floor drain ( got to figure out how to stop the syphon..hmmm), power head pumping new water from the mixing vat to the sump them all my main pumps kicking back on, all this could be set up through a macro(drag and drop, very easy..) go to www.x10.com pretty cool stuff..

I have been using the x-10 modules for lighting for a couple of years, for my house and for the fishtank. When they work they work pretty well. However, they do not always work. Our house is pretty new, 6 years, so the wiring is not that old. But quite frequently it misses turning the light's on or off so I have to do it manually. I replaced the batteries in the main control module, and it still frequently resets the date and time to some random number. I would not recommend it for anything that could cause flooding, like a pump, and only for lights if it's ok with you if they do not come on or fail to go off occasionally. I tried calling their tech support which was absolutely worthless, I would say among the worst that I have ever delt with.
