I have a 55 gallon reef tank with a cleaner shrimp, blood red and 3 weeks ago I added a coral banded. From reading threads on this I am now concerned he might eat my 2 shrimp. Can these 3 live together? If not how can I catch him? He never comes out, always hides under the rocks.

Don't worry, they'll be fine. The banded coral shrimp is not as aggressive as everyone is making it out to be, it'll put on a great show, but it won't kill your other shrimp (unless they decide to try and clean it or they metamorphosize into another banded coral shrimp of the same sex).

Ihave a pair of Coral banded shrimp and had a pair of skunk cleaners(Lysmata amboiensis) and the coral banded shrimps did eventualy kill both cleaner shrimp. Now the cbs did have the aquarium first and got the ideal cave type location that they like and the cleaners kept trying to get in the cave(as they like in the wild). This was the only cave, I should have had another one at the other end of the tank. Try that set up or have plenty of rocky locations and they could get along. They dont have big claws just for looking pretty! They may be slow but when those bold cleaners come in and they grab them with those claws, thats it. Hope that sheds some light into a negative aspect. But I still have the CBS after many years, I had the cleaners for many years before they were eaten, but I just wont try that again. Steve

I can only speak of my CBS - but he was a bastard. He got quite big after about 8 months and I actually saw him grab my yello tang and shake him in his pincher. After that, and time the tang swam near him, he tried to grab at him. He finally went back to the LFS. Mean little sucker!
