Have I got a porduct for you guys to check out. I am the guy with the Bryopsis Plumosa problem. I have been fighting a loosing battle with this stuff. I went surching on the web and found this site. http://www.algone.com/water_changes.htm#top It claimed to control algae. So I gave it a try, I have been following the instructions very carefully. Within a months time I have seen a noticable change in the growth of the Bryopsis. I have been pulling the stuff out like made and have hired the help of a Pencil-streaked Rabbitfish who seems to be helping and a sea slug of the group Elysia Chlorotica it also seems to be helping. I think this product is the major helper in controlling this pain in the butt.

Check the site out and let me know what you guys think of the site and the product.

I don't know. I am weary to believe their claims. It seems like a wonder cure to me, and those scare me.
Bryopsis problems come and go for their own reasons, so I am weary of believing that the algone had an effect on yours. 'Specially cause you were trying to get rid of it other ways at the same time. Also, with algone, you were doing the water changes suggested as well? That could have had a major impact on the bryopsis.
Like I said, I am weary of wonder products and anecdotal evidence.

BTW, have you tried putting Kalk paste on the base of bryopsis outbreaks to kill it off? Worked like a charm for me.

You might have a point. The product is almost gone and I will keep up with the schedule I have now and see what is up with the Bryopsis. It was a cheap try and did not effect my reef tank.

Thanks

John, this product has been out for a few years now. I first noticed it on the FW planted tank board I used to frequent. One of the people on the board did an analysis on it and it turned out to be barley (straw?) of some kind, if my memory serves me right. It is supposed to do what they say but I am not sure how much is needed or how efficient it is, or if it even works in SW. If you go to Reef Central FW plant board and do a search for this product I am sure you will come up with alot of hits.
