I have recently began to setup an AGA 65g (36"X18"X24?). I am trying determine if I should do 1X250 MH or 2X175/250, I will be using 2 36" VHO. Do you think there will be too much shadowing w/ 1 MH, or do ya'll think there will be too much heat w/2 MH. Please let me know what types of corals you keep w/ your particular setups. Any pics would be greatly appreicated. TIA

I think that you should go for the dual MH system I tried using a single high wattage bulb(400w on a 55G) on my tank and was never happy with the spread. I finally upgraded to dual HQI and have been happy since.

I am getting a new tank that is 36 x 24 x 20 and am lighting it with 1 250 watt Iwasaki and 4 NO actinics on an Icecap 660. You will have some shading, but still enough light for soft corals and maybe some lower light LPS at the ends. In the middle you could keep anything. 2 250's would be hot in that amount of space.

dawgfish,
Doesn't the AGA 65-gal have a center brace? How will you deal with it with one MH bulb?
