opinions on Metal halide in a closed front / open back canop

I have an acrylic canopy that is partially open in the back and I was considering a 250 watt halide bulb. I currently have a 2 X 96 pc set- up. The pc's do not create a heat problem. How much more heat does a 250 throw??????? Would it be alright????

The 250 MH will produce more heat then the PC that is for sure. How high is the canopy from the water? I would put some fans in the canopy.

I have a six inch clearance, and I was told months ago that this is too close. I was wondering if anyone measured the heat that comes off of a metal halide bulb??????????
