I just purchased a mated pair of maroon clownfish and was told that they would accept my ritteri anemone. How long does it usually take for the 2 to bond?
TIA
Apparently there are no guarantees. A couple months after getting my Oscellaris clownfish I added a Bubble Tip Anemone. It was over two weeks before the clownfish even looked at the Anemone.
Now they are inseparable. The Anemone split last week, and the clownfish take turns snuggling in both Anemones.
To help them into the anemone add some silversides into the anemones tentacles without letting any get away. The clowns will take notice of the food and where to find it. When that eating necessity is coupled with the clown's instinct it usually results in a quick bond.
But as stated above, there is no time frame to gauge when a clown will bond with an anemone. Just like a dog you can use food to train them.
