Yeah. Take them out. That's the problem when you mix species that aren't adapted from the same natural environment. This applies to lighting, water movement, turbidity, etc. What you find in most mixed environment tanks is that reefers compromise the best environment to find something that all specimens can tolerate. That's why I keep several smaller tanks that are dedicated to animals from the same environment. That way I can give each type the environment to which they are best suited. If I had to have just one tank I would pick the environ I liked best and keep only those animals.

Gorgonias like a fair about of flow, but the don't like it too extreme. They should be moved around by the current, but not flattened. Xenia can take extremely high current if it is given in doses like from a seaswirl or wavemaker.

I have two 3/4" SS on my tank as well as 4 Maxijet 1200's on a wavemaker and I adjusted the output nozzles so that they tend to not direct much flow toward the ends of the tank where I have constructed two low water flow areas for those specimens that appreciate it. I also placed my LR so that it also serves as a current break to further reduce water motion. The low water flow areas are visible mostly from the ends of the tank which is setup to be viewed that way. This has worked quite well for me.

I know this sounds like a strange question, with every one obsessed with getting more flow in their tanks. But, you guys with Sea swirls, how do you make an area for low current. I have two 3/4 SS going and always thought I had some areas of relative low flow near the bottom. Over the weekend I got a few frags from a friend of mine, some Xenia and a gorgonian. Put them in the areas I thought were relatively low flow but...they are getting blown around like crazy. The Gorgonian keeps blowing down onto the sand because of the flow, the xenia looks like it's holding on for dear life every time the SS makes a pass. I have lots of LPS and SPS so the flow looked pretty mild in some areas. Any ideas?
