We have 1 LFS here where I live, and haven't visited it in over a month, mainly due to me ordering everything I need offline for less even w/ shipping, and haven't added any life because I was switing to MH's and trying to raise CA levels before I did.

Well, Many years ago *With a different Owner* I used to be impressed w/ most of the stuff they had, but since then I noticed a downgrade in the stuff and a increase in prices (30.00 for a little Feather Duster, 50.00 Mushroom Corals w/ one or 2 on them and 6.00 pound for LR) Well the fish they had looked good, but the Rock was pathetic.
No Life, No Coraline, No Nothing except those little anoying Anemoes on the rocks -
The corals looked like they were dying, most were not even opened up, I was really disapointed. They had one tank w/ some really good looking rock but that was not for sale.
anyone else run into problems like this with their LFS ?
my question I guess is I need some LR and I want some Feather Dusters and a few shrooms
Where is the best place to order all this stuff at one time from ??

Thanks, as I will not be visiting that store again, I will drive 4 hours to the next one and hope that it is better.

I had a similar experience here in So. Cal. My husband and I set up our first reef tank with a lot of advice and help
from our LFS. The people that worked there were very knowledgeable, their stuff always looked great and their
prices were fair.

When we moved back from over seas we went to the LFS to buy a new smaller tank and set up another system.
We were shocked, the store appeared to be 1/2 to 1/4 the size. the prices seemed much too high, the quality wasn't that great AND When I asked the kid working at the store "what has changed in reef keeping that makes it possible to keep reefs smaller than 50 G?" His answer was the eclipse hoods. This place was always so crowded with people that you couldn't move around the store. Now even on a weekend it was quiet.

When I talked to the owner a few weeks later what happened, he said that the big pet store companies moved in the area and took over. He said he now sells on ebay, but not fish stuff.

Lucky for me Jeff's Exotic Fish isn't to far and I do 90% of my shopping there. But it is sad to see this happen to a good fish store.

Good luck finding a replacement

It is truly sad when LFS's do that, especially considering that it was the only one here that carries saltwater stuff.

Oh well, There is always the internet adn DFW which is 6 hours away from where I live.

Thanks for the input at least I know I am not alone in the search for a store.

I haven't had a chance to visit this place yet, but I've been hearing good things about "The World Down Under"
it's in Bedford, 817-545-2050
I've been going to "Aquatic Design" in Plano, 972-423-0414, their ok, sometimes you can find some really nice Fiji their but most of the time it's the same as you've already seen, but with any place it a hit or miss.
good luck.
