Another lighting question HELP!!!!!

how many lights can be run on one ice cap balist? I have 2 hoods made by hydro farm...
one is a 175 metal halide....the other is a 250 high pressure sodium.....is it worth getting a replacement ballist for the evil one? They make a conversion bulb....should I try it????? but I dont know if the conversion bulb has high kelvin......
I`m so confused!!!!!!!!!! Help!!!!!!!!!!!
I relly dont know where to start....invested in these or build a hood with icecaps????????
I have the sunburst model.....I know some of you might think Im growing pants...Im not...my brother got these babys from the evidence room if you know what Im saying .....

Melsandman, You Need to clarify a lot of things.

Which Icecap ballast?
What type of lights?
What size id your tank?
What do you have in it?
What else are you planning on putting in it in the future?

I Have a 75 gallon salt....Ive been reading about lighting but not getting to much out of it....right now I have to shop lights from home depot with 2 atinics and 2 daylight bulbs.....In the tank theres live rock with various colors ...purple red green..grey....Id some polyps a yellow tang..

looking to get more low level light items because I just dont have 600$ or more for a really good hood...halide and vho combo...but my main concern is wich way do I move????
