Hello,
I need some more B-ionic and went to their website. Now they have a product with calcium bicarbonate. Its recommended for tanks with high pH. Mine is usually 8.3-8.4 at peak photo period. Can anyone tell me more about this formulation. Is it used in the same way as the original B-ionic? Does it last as long. (I was dosing 50ml of each part per day.) Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

I used it before I installed my calcium reactor, because my Nilsen drove my ph up to 8.6+, due to my calcium demands. I just used it to supplement the Nilsen.
The benefit is that it is fairly neutral to PH, unlike the regular Bionic that will raise PH.
The downside, is that it is necessarily weaker (by about 4 times if I recall correctly), but it is priced somewhat cheaper.
It worked well for my situtation.

As Mike pointed out, it is essentially the same product, just a lower pH version that must be made more dilute than the original. If you use B-ionic, but have too high of a pH, it is a fine way to go. OTOH, if you have an acceptable pH, it is not an improvement.

In a sense, the balance between HCO3- and CO3-- has been shifted more toward HCO3- than was the original.
