on a 12o you will need a minimum of a 25 W sterilizer. Installation is simple. Cut the return line from the sump to the tank and connect insert the UV in the middle. Takes no more than 10 minutes.

You might want to check out a book called Aquarium Systems Engineering by a guy named Escobal. Apparently it's very important to get a slow enough flow; otherwise you might not zap what you want zapped.

Absolutely! You do need a slow enough flow, but not so slow that you barely run any water through it. I believe the standard of flow is 2 gallons per minute?

Also, are you running a fish only tank?

My return pump is an iwaki 40rlxt (1200 gal per hour) How do you slow the water down.

I have plenty of room in the sump. Should I set up the uv with it's own pump and return to the sump itself. If so, what type of pump ?

can anyone suggest a quality uv sterilizer set up and where I might purchase them. Also,how to install ( I'm new to the addiction, so if it's a foolish question, please forgive me) I have a 120 gal.
