Does anyone know the international codes or UL listed codes for the different lighting sockets: mogul, hqi, pc, etc.?

Are the lengths of the different wattage hqi bulbs the same, ie same socket?

Those who have hqi pendants or fixtures, can you give me the etched code on the protective glass, or is it unmarked?

Does the glass have to be just tempered or UV shielded as well (all glass has some UV shielding properties, right?)?

Seems to me that an appropriately sized halogen fixture from HD, with the appropriate retro'd socket would be an economical alternative to PFO pendants. HD carries some fixtures of similar size to PFO pendants, with the glass, power cord, a pair around $45 (orange standing shoplights). If the HQI sockets are cheap, <$20 each, one could have a pair of pendants for less then one PFO.

I know that the ballast/transformer part of the HD fixture would be scrapped.

Your help is appreciated, thanks, Bill.

Methinks I'm being misunderstood.
I know the socket in the HD fixture is not the proper size, hence, I know the bulb in the HD fixture is junkola.
To my knowledge all lighting sockets have a universal code applicable, so that ordering replacement parts is easy. I need the code to order the correct socket.
I believe the transformer in the HD units is not acceptable for HQI usage, never mind that I'm not matching a wattage, I'm considering the size of the fixture.
I still plan on using an electronic ballast. For 3x the money, I'll get a ballast easy to wire into the fixture, save on electricity, have a reliable warranty, no heat in the stand, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I'm handy, but, it the fixture thing works out I'll save enough to get the ballasts at similar cost to PFO + mag ballast.
I may be getting the bulbs from an overseas trip to Germany, I'll see if they're cheaper (have to be).
Bill.
