You can cut the polyp at the base and attach it to another rock with gel type superglue. You don't need to get the glue from an aquarium shop, any gel type superglue from the grocery store will work.
What I did was take the rock with the polyps out of the tank onto a damp towel. get a saw and saw off a chunk of the rock - now you have two chunks of rock with the polyps on - a slower alternative is to put some rock fragments onto the rock with the polyps - they will start to expand onto the rock frags and then when you have a few on there you can move them where you want.
Great Suggestion Sillingw and simple.
I'll get some rock rubble and put it on my poylp rock, hopfully they will spread and I'll relocate them through out the tank
I've seen posts on fragging corals but haven't come accross anything on fragging polyps.
I have a polyp rock with an abundance of brown polyps. I'd like to spread some to different areas of my tank but I need instructions on how to accomplish this.
Can I just cut one of the polyps, leaving the polyp base still attached to the mother rock, do I need to get the whole polyp detached from the rock or can I just cut the polyp anyplace to use as a clone?
Then how do I attach the polyp frag to it's new home? These polyps are not too big so attaching might be a challange.
