Whats your preference?
As I plan to purchase an icecap ballast. Currently running halide bulb 6500k (really mercury vapor) Once I get my ice cap I'll have to decide if I want to run both or just the vho or some combination of vho and mh.
Tank 30x30x24 deep.
Some info please.

If you are gonna do light loving critters like acropora or tridacnid clams then i would suggest MH/VHO combo. 250's would do your 24" tank nicely, 400's if you want to do all SPS and clams. 1000w if your a nut.

Plan to keep a combination of sps and softies already have lots of soft coral and am now trying montipora.
1000watts won't be nuts!! Think of the monies you have spent on this hobby, the credit card purchases, the expensive corals and fish that died, buying sand at high prices and so on, and so on....!!!!

Do i smell SPS? I would suggest 250 65k's or 400w 10k's (better color, around the same par). 400w 65k's would be just ducky too but your leathers might not be as thrilled...

Raptor and monkeyboy/
Currently running 250watt 6500k.
Considering going to an icecap with 4 vho.
Any advantage to change to vho or to combine vho and the 6500k metal halide? It seem either way I'm o.k. What will the vho give me? I guess I'll be saving on electricity with vho. Reduction of heat with vho.
If using both in combination whats a good ratio mh to vho time wise? ex. 9hr vho 3 hr mh?
