Medusa Worm?
I went to the local fish shop and they were selling what looked to be long (8") thin (3/8") cukes. They had smooth thin looking skin and feathers appendages coming out of their mouth that they seemed to be scavanging the sand and rocks with. They had a alternating gray and black blotched coloring. I thought that they loked like long thin cukes. They came from a collector in Hawaii (This much is certain). The LFS labeled them as Medusa worms. Does this sound correct? I thought that medusa worms were a type of predatory bristle worm. Any tentative ID based on the descriptions I have given.
Anyways these things were cool and I would like to get one for my 50 Reef. If you think you can tentatively ID the creature described would you say that it would be reef safe.

Thanks
Jake

What is called a medusa worm is (I think) a relative of the sea apple and the cucumber. It reminds me of okra with it's shape, haven't seen one in about 8 years, but as I recall, they are kind of geometrical? Anyways, they are usually pretty long, and they can stretch themselves out, and they also have fans like a sea apple that come out and filter stuff out of the water to eat. I think they also can be very toxic when they die. I don't think I've heard of a medusa worm being a type of bristle worm before.
