I'm thinking of buying ffexpress's special on Live Rock (45lbs for $99). Has anyone else gotten this or any other Live Rock from ffexpress? What do you think? Any pic's?

jcb152, i ordered the 45 lbs of LR from FFE a few months ago. i think it's a great bargain for $99 + shipping. i went with the uncured and cured it myself. the rock comes in various sizes and some had macro growing on it. go for it, you'll not regret it.

i tried to post a pic but i guess brinkster doesn't allow linking anymore.

Ordered 46lbs of premium from FFE for $99 over a month ago and my new tank was cycled within a month. Need to rinse with fresh water to remove some unwanted critters and dirt. They advertise these as Walt Smith rock from Fiji and cured with salt mist. Great coraline growth (like the picture shown) and sizes ranged from 6" to 11". Best reason to buy is that they only charge $17 for shipping if you live in Southern California. Got mine in less that two days via FedEx.

I too got the 45 lbs for $99. Very good deal IMO, but it must be re-cured. Good variety of sizes and shapes too. My LFS buys this same rock and sells it for like $7 a pound, what a ripoff.

i just checked and that photograph was taken on 17 Jun 01. there's a bit more coralline these days.

i've got a worm hitch-hiker that i'm finally convinced is a peanut worm. funny that i never saw it until last night when i broke out the flashlight after a few hours of no lights.

do you have a red lens for that flashlight?
if not, get one!
that way the critters don't get spooked.

i have a pink lens and the critters still shy away. i'm still looking for the elusive red lens for my flashlight. any idea where to get red celophone or something similar?

Yancey:

You can use a red gel - the type used for theatrical lighting. Or check at an Army-Navy type store, they sell 'military' flashilgts that come with screw-on red lenses.

Are there any craft stores in your area, Yancey?
When I was a kid, there was always red celophane around for art projects. I bet the craft stores could hook you up.
