i bought oysters at a fish market. boiled them, ate em and now i have the shells i want to use to let my star polyps grow over. are these shells safe to put in? the thing i dont like it that they sorta have a strong oyster odor.
If they smell, you may get some ammonia generation in the tank.
They are relatively safe. Oysters will accumulate heavy metals and some pollutants from the water which may be deposited in their shell. As the shell dissolves, some may be released in the tank.
