First question, I have a Magnavore 6 for a new tank. It is acrylic as noted on the thread. My question is which pads are used for acrylic? The documentation is not too clear. From what I gather, the white 1/4 inch or so "brillo paddish" portion goes on the inside magnet and the white felt pad goes inbetween the outside magnet and the outer acrylic. Am I correct?
Second question, assuming I am correct on the above assumtion. I have a Magnavore 6 magnet. It is rated for 5/8 to 3/4 acrylic. My new tank only 1/2 inch. Should the magnet be safe for it? I am currenty cycling my new tank. I have 4 inches of southdown sand that has clouded the tank pretty good. The water is clearing up but the walls are clouding my view more so. The walls have been caked by the stuff. This being my first acrylic tank I wanted to test the magnet. I beleive I see some lines created on the inside of the tank on the test portion. So I either have the incorrect assumtion on pad placement, the wronge size magnet, or too much abrassive substance adheared to the walls. I want to waite untill daylight to really look at the acrylic but wanted to get the thread out for any helpful insight. Thanks

Another question. What do you acrylic owners use to just clean the outside of your walls? You know, for the finger prints and water slash drops.

Plastic shops sell acrylic buffing products. I think one is called Brillianize. Definitely remove all the sand grit from the tank walls very gently before cleaning with a magnet. They scratch easy.I am learning the hard way on an old tank. I'll be much more careful with a new one. The biggest risk is using it after it falls off into the sand or using it at all near the bottom of the tank. As you are sweeping by, the sand gets kicked up and may stick to the magnet pad. If the light isn't just right, you can scratch up a large section before noticing the damage. The Kent Pro Scrapers work pretty good for corraline if you have enough space to work. The scraper has to be almost perpendicular to remove corraline. Consider that when you are aquascaping. If it's a tight fit between the rock and tank wall, you will have to let the corraline accumulate.
