just another q for u guys...I have a 77gal tank which i plan on adding a 20gal sump to it, i have gotten a used 300gph overflow, my question is what size pump should i aim for? u can control the flow on the pumps right?

I'd think that a Mag 5 would be sufficient. You might look at having two overflows. They have a tendency to cause floods when they are used to capacity.
Controlling the flow of a pump is easy. Just put a ball valve on the output side of the pump.
