There is no intentional difference between the bulbs. They are of Chinese manufacture and the bluer bulbs are culled out and sold as "True Actinic". This is mere speculation on my part but it holds true. The "true actinic" bulbs are basically a product of the horrid quality control of the chinese bulbs. The CustomSeaLife, Coralife and any offbrand PC's are all being made in the same factory in China.

The original blue bulb is made by Panasonic.

So basically all these bulbs are the same its just that some brands are modified to give out a different look?

I have two- 10,000k 96w PC bulbs and they are a super bright bluishwhite, and I have 2- "true" actintic 03 bulbs are a purply blue color. Maybe your bulbs were boxed wrong, mine are definatly distinguishable...

The "actintic" I got from www.marinedepot.com is definatly blue... E-mail me and I will send you a pic of the 10,000k only, and a pic of the actintic only. There is a total difference.

I've got a 10k 96w and a True actinic 96w from premium aquatics and there is a very large difference between the two. 10k obviously very bright crisp white and the actinic is deep purple/blue.

are you talking about 1 bulb or 2?

Sounds like you have 1 bulb being the "smart bulb" one side 10k and one side actinc 03.

Are you commenting on it's look when bulb is on or off? If it's the smart bulb and commenting about looks when it's on, it will look crisp white. If it's 2 bulbs, then you should definitely see color difference b/w the 2 when you run one at a time.

its a 50/50 bulb and it was listed as it being a real actinic instead of the "blue" CSL look and its supposed to have a purp/bluish hue but its more like white/blueish and looks more like a 10k im sure ZigZagZombie would agree. Heres the site to give you an idea of what im talking about...

"so called actinic03"

So are you running 1 bulb or 2 in your hood. I have a 32w 50/50 on my 15 gal nano tank. half bulb is 7100 blue and other is 10k. When the bulb is on, it has a crisp white look. You will not get a blue look when it's just one 50/50 bulb running.

ON my main tank 125g (soon to be upgraded to MH & PC supplementation) I currently have 6 PC bulbs. 2 8800k; 2 10k; and 2 7100 actinc. I have the 3 colors on 3 different timmers to make a dawn to dusk effect. WHen the actinc comes on fist by itself, the tank has a cool looking blue light effect. Once the daylight 8800 & 10k come on, it's crisp white looking.
