I read on one of the posts here that Dr. Mac only uses B-Ionic. I would like to know the benefits of B-Iodine and how to use them.

Do you mean B-Ionic? B-Ionic is a 2-part calcium supplement with an alkalinity buffer component.

I started out using it, but have found kalkwasser to be much more effective for me. Some people like it, though, because it's less hassle. But, more $$.

FWIW, ESV is the brand name, and B-Ionic is the product. You may wish to re-phrase your question.

Just to add my $0.02:

My understanding is that Dr. Mac used B-Ionic on his smaller systems in the past. Now on his web site he says he uses Warner CalXMax - also a 2 part solution.

I think both are good and Mac probably uses the one he gets the best deal on.

I have used B-Ionic in the past and had good success. Now switched to calcium reactor.

I use ESV B-Ionic. I add 30ml of each A&B a day in a 90 to maintain Cal & Alk levels, but every tank is different. It's more expenseive than dripping, but it's alot easier for me.

Back when I had my 44, I dosed 30ml of b-ionic daily w/ a gallon of kalkwasser. Had no problem keeping up with it and everything grew great. B-ionic is really good stuff, as is kalk. HTH
