I have been to Two. Brooklyn Zoo and Aquarium, last year before i started thinking reef (okay, Obsessing...)when my GF was looking for cats. Don't remember much.

New World Aquarium is on Flatbush, and the one time I was there I spent about an hour talking to the guy (maybe owner) about a 75 gal setup. Seemed knowledgeable, buy about 5 years behind. He told me I ABSOLUTELY needed a Plenum with the crushed coral substrate. On the other hand, he also told me I DEFINATELY WITHOUT A DOUBT needed a tap water purifier. he knew NYC water would cause algae blooms, So i do think he knew most of what he was talking about. He had a few setups, different light setups so you could see the difference, and his livestock was pretty healthy.

Sorry, New World Aquarium is the one in Manhattan (38th St.)

The one in Brooklyn is World Class Aquarium. 2015 Flatbush (718) 258-0653. I found a business card while cleaning up.

Been to Absolutely Fish, and the prices are absolutely outrageous. Great fish selection, terrible coral. Been to most in Northern Jersey and was looking elsewhere.

New World is more expensive than Aquatropics. In fact, its the most expensive store I've been in (NW should be next to the definition of nickel and diming). Neither store has figured out who the customer is in customer service either (NW in particular). If I treated my clients like that I'd be out of business. Aquatropics at least has a bigger selection. Anyone have any other color on the LFSs in the NY/NJ area?
