I'm wanting to add a Kent float valve to my sump for water top off. Can you just buy the valve or do I need the whole kit with all the fittings? The kit is like $45 and it looks like more fittings than needed. What comes with only the float valve....can the hose be connected right into it? Thanks!

I believe the kit is only if its coming straight from your ro system, if its top off from another container you only need the float valve itself, and regular airline sized tubing fits into it

Kent has 2 float kits. One is the whole kit w/ a solonoid for your RO. The other is just the float valve, which is all you'd need. Never, ever, ever, hook up a float to your tank from a source of water that will never stop if the float malfunctions...

What i would do is either make or buy a resevoir, attatch airline tubing to it near the bottom, attach that to the plain float valve inside the sump and enjoy. This way it's not connected to your water system, much safer.

It comes with a plastic adapter for tubing. I use the rigid type just like what is used for RO units. This is available at most hardware stores. You could also probably use soft tubing such as airline. BTW, these are great float valves for the money. I just got back for an 11 day trip and used one hooked up to a 15g container filled with kalk to handle all of my top off needs while gone. It worked like a charm. I believe the kit you are talking about is sold as an auto shutoff for RO units. I've never used it and you certainly don't need it if all you are going to use it for is topoff via gravity feed to your sump.

Well I was wanting to connect the float valve to the RO unit in the basement. Now you've got me worried about doing it. How often do these float valves malfunction? Are they not that dependable? I've already got an auto top off under the tank using one of those sensor switch types. It works well, but I'm wanting to go to something that I don't have to bother with. Thanks!
