Well this is what i've noted since I got the stuff.

I have seen the 3 strombus snails i threw in my 'fuge, have seen 1 in the main tank. Never saw the baby turbo snails but have yet to see empty shells. Micro hermits are cruising around. All the nerites have congregated in my overflow, out of the water, talk about inter-tidal. I've seen plenty new worm trails thru the sand since then but I can't attribute that totally to the kit. The 24" fuge on the back is absolutely loaded w/ pods where i put the bag of 20 that they sent.

The tang heaven hasn't grown (well it could have, but nothing noticable) but is holding up well. In retrospect, this kit really wasn't all that, but i'm sure it did something, and the price was right. The live sand activator has yet to stop being ugly but it's pretty well mixed in now.

Frightening note: I've noticed several small (1mm and smaller) brown flat worms in my refugium. This is where i introduced the pods and all the tang heaven at first. I have seen none in my tank as of yet, but do have a resident 5lb (well maybe not that big) six-line wrasse perusing the rock for something to eat. I'll keep an eye out, i'm going be very not happy if things turn sour...

Monkey, I have been reading other threads (on RC I think) that have been complaining about flat worms from IPSF. It looks like they have a problem with these.

Steve, I've read those also, kind of scary. I e-mailed IPSF and asked about flatworms but got no response. I hope they stay in the refugium though, but theres a whole bunch of small young ones in there...

The flatworms scare me, I'm not sure that I would order again from them, i've never seen flatworms in my life other than at another LFS, they're not from me!

One word "aptasia". Good thing its only in the refugium which ONLY had the IPSF stuff in it, so it souldn't have come from anywhere else. Caveat Emptor. I've been picking them out with a tweezers.

monkeyboy,

Flatworms from the two main kit suppliers has been a common thing for some time now. I would advise trying to stop them before they get to your reef if they haven't already. If it were me I would shut off the fugom the rest of your system and Oom it. These !#^&)s are not worth it.

I am 95% sure that I got my flat worms from Inland Aquatics. I don't think they came in the detritivore kit, but I got some of their activator sand and suddenly I have flat worms.

Here is a close up pic of mine.

The pic is about 3 or 4 times bigger than real life. With the naked eye I can't see their eyes like in the pic.

I have them as well. I really cant see any harm other than their very ugly appearance. Mine seem to come and go. Someone else had noticed they are more common in tanks that receive heavy feedings. I would rather not have them in my tank, and I am really not sure where they came from. Mine stay down in the sand bed.

Geeze, going to order from them next month, i'll stay away from the sand activator. I assume that they came from the tang heaven, other than the snails they were the only thing introduced to my refugium. And we thought anthrax thru the mail was bad, now we're getting flat worms thru the mail! Ahhh!!!
