my koralin cal reactor slows down from time to time, so i turn it up. at first the little eheim pump was hassle to get going, but other than that no probs. there is a tap on the top, which lets the excess air out, open that slightly make sure water comes out for a sec, then close again. if that doesnt cure it then sorry i dont know

What model do you have. I have a 1500 and fought this issue as well. Does the drip stop or do you get a CO2 lock?

You dont get a CO2 lock? I use siphon feed and the only time my drip stops is

1. The feed line clogs. I use airline tubing and it will clog.
2. I get lazy and dont change the media. The media can disolve and collect a lot of sand.
3. I get an air lock from excess CO2

A 1500 is a very old model. Does you load from the bottom

I also have the 1500 reactor and I too have trouble with CO2 lock. When I can keep it going it keeps the alk., ph,. & Cal. up and the CO2 lasts a long time.
From what I understand the CO2 lock is like a safety feature to keep to much CO2 from getting into the tank. I use the formula that came in the instructions to set the drip/bubble rate but a lot of times I still get CO2 lock and have to readjust the settings.

My Korallin slows down sometimes too. Make sure that you are removing any undisolved gas, as montie suggested. This helps mine out too. Also, I've found that using just the valve on the outlet to control drip rate works much better than using the line restrictor. The restrictor initially allows a much easier control of the drip rate, but the high alk/calc concentration in the effluent hardens the tubing and tends to make the line permenantly crimped, thus removing your control. patience is required too. I've found that mine takes a few days of fine tuning whenever I need to retune it. Taking a quick daily look at the reactor to make sure it doesn't have too much gas, is dripping at the correct rate, and is bubbling at the correct rate goes a long way towards preventing problems. I use a pump too feed mine, and that may prevent problems as well.

Lil D......Gawd I had a cat named Little D when I was a child...that cat only had one eye and it gives me the willies to think of him....

Anyway if you reactor loads from the top it is not a 1500.
Its a 1501 or 1502. My recommendation is for you to take the drip from the CO2 vent. You can place the outlet above the water level of the sump and CO2 will not enter you tank.
Do you take water from the recommended port or from the vent?

sorry for the mix up its a C- 1502, and its not just the drip. its when the water fed stops the drip stops. I dont know whats making the water fed stop, I have a pump to it fed it .I think the co2 bubbles was to fast and it is getting to much air. what is co2 lock?

When you reactor stops dripping does an air pocket develop that is quite visiable in the reactor. In fact the water level will continue to drop as the reactor fills with CO2.

Or does your reactor simply stop dripping and stay filled with water.

when it stop dripping Im never home to see it . when I see it , the water level is 3inches lower in the reactor and the water fed & drip is stoped.

That is a CO2 lock most likely. Take the effuluent from the the CO2 vent and this may stop. Where is the drip taken from?

This is as far as I can take you as I am not familiar with this reactor. I suggest you cap off this vent and take the effuluent from where the CO2 is vented.

This worked for me and I run mine at about 30 bubbles/min and 120 drops/min.

Good luck and maybe someone who knows more about the 1502 will help.

I THINK IM GETTING CO2 LOCK CAUSE MY BUBBLE COUNT WAS REALLY HIGH. I JUST PUT IT TO 12 BUBBLES A MIN. IT WAS AT 30 BUBBLES A MIN. AND I DONT HAVE THE OLD 1500 I HAVE THE NEW 1
