We have a 600 GPH CPR continuous overflow & it looses it's siphon after 3 days or so. We have the tube clamped off good with an end cap on it too & nothing works. Does anyone have this type of overflow & what do we need to do to make it work right? We contacted Pet Wharehouse.com where we bought it from & they suggested a RIO 200 pump but all the pet shops highly don't suggest that.

I had this problem but recently got a Maxijet powerhead with the venturi attachment for the intake and no more problems. Attached the hose to the venturi and the MaxiJet does the rest.

I had the same problem and agree with RickW. Works great. Even with a power outage it starts the syphon.

Howdy,

The CPR overflows are meant to be run with a powerhead. You should check the documentation that came with it, becuase is should mention this.

Just attach the black tubing that came with the overflow to the venturi hole of a powerhead. I have used several types of powerheads with the CPR overflows, but the Maxijets seem to be the best.

You will want to periodically clear the tube, it can get clogged with algae, crud, or salt creep. I just pull the tube off one end and blow into, then do the same on the other end. This will clear both the overflow nipple, and the powerhead hole.

Good luck,

Scott.
