I would like to know what this coral is any if theres anything I can do to save it, It came on a rock I got last week

it kinda looks like a Moon Brain Coral, if it is it's not too healthy looking.

Well it came on a piece of rock I got the other day, So I just wanted to find out what it was and try to help it along a litle. And maybe save it

I would just orient the rock so the coral gets some light, and leave it alone. If it is still alive, I think it will be fine. I have found that any coral that comes in living on live rock tends to be very forgiving, although it may take quite a while to perk up.

Thanks alot I have 2 20 watt lights now, I really need to get an upgrade, Now for a 29 gal tank what type and watt light should I be getting I would like to able to put differnt things in a good mix. Any info on lights would be killer also

Moon coral and its regions are as follows "Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Western Pacific, Japan, east to the line and Tuamoti Islands" (Corals: by Julian Sprung).

Hmm, that covers just about all the major oceans except Atlantic.

mjag...don't take this the wrong way, but do a search on lights before you ask any questions. From my experience, everyone is very nice and helpful, but most questions have already been asked (especially about lights)...and you get instant gratification because you don't have to wait until someone responds! If you still have questions...just ask and we'll help! Good luck, and go for minimum of 4watts/gal.

That looks a lot like a Siderastraea sp to me (If the rock is from the Carribean).

If it's pacific rock, it's another coral but I can't remember the name right now. Perhaps someone else will jump in w/ the name. It's not a porites, I remember that much.
