CO2 build up in the water at night......That's one of the reason people suggest make your refugium on reverse lighting schedule, or better yet, on 24/7 to minimize the ph swing.

Good point, I didn't catch that.
If it's the 1.0 difference, her tanks is in real trouble!
OH!!LOL!! No! its .10 Usually about 8.19 and then goes to 8.29
I have a light on the refugium underneath. It goes on from 7pm to 7 am ?? You mean I should let it run steady? doesn't the algae and mangroves need darkness too?
Lynn
No, mangroves and algea do not need a dark period. Although refugium photoperiod is not an issue everyone agree's with. There are sides to reverse daylight and 24/7. 24/7 will make your macro algea consume more nutrients (a good thing) and it can keep certain species of marco algea from going asexual (another good thing, if it goes asexual, it will cloud your water and could cause a tank to crash, a bad very thing). Reverse daylight helps to maintain a stable PH and it gives the nocturnal critter a rest, although they appear to adjust to 24/7 just fine IMHO.
