Hi All, I was wondering if you could share some experience with keeping lettuce nudibranchs.
In researching it I found out they aren't nudibranchs after all but they are of the family Sacoglossa. Here is a link to a site I was reading about it in. Sea Slug Forum

Thanks, Rich

I picked up three of them to help combat hair algae. They all disappeared after about 3 weeks.

I have not had any longterm success with them. I got a few a couple of times to try to deal with the evil bryopsis and they lasted a few months and then slowly vanished but most of the bryopsis stayed (I was finally able to get rid of it other ways).

I purchased one a while back; and he was last seen in the vacinity of my carpet

I think they are very prone to the hazards of the tank; pumps/overflows/etc...

I'm very weary now when thinking about getting small critters for my reef.

I'm another with the same experiences.....

I purchased four and they all eventually disappeared after a couple months....

I wouldn't recommend them....

Thanks for the replies, I will have to think some more about getting them. Anybody have good experiences with them? I see that they are on many mo sites as an algae fighter. Rich

Mine died after about a month...well, at least i hadn't seen it after it had been in the tank for 1 mos. Anyway....waste of money. But isn't that how we learn what works in this hobby?....is to waste our money?....it is what makes this hobby fun and our wives so chipper about were the money is going!

Is there a possibility that they are still in the tank, munching away at a slow pace, only coming out at night, staying hidden for the rest of the time? I know I have a couple of snails that do that. I also put several emerald crabs in about 2 months ago, they disappeared until last night when I saw one munching away. (a lot bigger now).

I believe they are also photosynthetic so I would think they would have to be out during the "day" if they wanted to survive.
