Leopard Sharks at Petco

I just saw a pitiful sight. Two 8-12" leopard sharks sitting in small (20g) red slime covered holding tanks. How many animals must Petco kill??? I don't even know why I go in there since I never buy anything - just killing time at lunch today. I am going to fire a letter off to their corporate headquarters.

Leopard Sharks are illegal in the sate of California IF under 36 inches. Considering proper id, this could impose a hefty fine on the store.

Do not feel bad. I went to a LFS that is quite reputable today to do some window shopping. They had 4 1-foot sharks in a 75 gallon tank. The tank was very clean, but... I do not know much about sharks, so I will rely on the sign. It said nurse sharks.

Let's be serious. How many people are truly equipt to handle a shark in a home aquarium?

I said something, but their reply was there was a market for them. I quess so, but I know they are out of my league.

Check out what gonzoclownzo said. Maybe that is what Petco needs. A big fine.
