One thing I hate is when somebody says something will be done on a certain day and not only is it not done, but no one says why it is not and when it will be. Well if anyone has been to www.harboraquatics.com lately they were suppose to have their new site up and running by today with a hit or miss page for SPS's and Acro's etc. Well after all the good things I have heard from them I have been heavily anticpating their new page. Now I must say I am concerned to say the least since there is no communication here on what is going on. If they finally do get it up and running will I place an order? Probably not. Why? If they don't communicate on a big issue like their website why would they have better communication with one person if they have no communication with all their customers. Just my 2 cents. Anyone else. PS I believe it or not I am not here to attack them I am just tired of bad communication and bad cs.

Web Hosting is new to a lot of businesses. Give them a chance. Maybe thier stock came in late or LEAKING and they thought they should take care of it first. A day or two is OK. I really hate websites that are months behind.

Actually, if I recall correctly, part of the reason the webpage got pushed back a bit is that jt is out of town for a short while this week. Harbor participates in an annual activity with a school a few hours away, and they set up a touch tank and some other items as an educational display.

I'd also have to say, being a web developer, that creating a webstore isn't easy. Alot of issues one has to resolve, presentation, security, bandwidth.....

Sounds to me like you just wanted to start a flame about Harbor. It takes a lot of work just to run that business with all the stock tanks, rock, animals, trips to the airport, answering the phones, taking orders, and doing customer support, and it's pretty much just Joy and JT.

Gary used to do their website until he passed away. JT is in the process of revamping it now, I'm sure it will be great when it's done, so dude, stfu. I'm sure they won't miss your business.

Man, I've heard of vendors getting blasted for a lot of things, but never for being a day late on getting a webpage up and running!

If we are going to get onto someone for their websites, I hate the sites that have those cheesy "Under Construction" signs on them for YEARS! I think Oceanic had that until they finally got it updated but it was "Under Construction" for at least 2 years!

Actually, I partly agree with Cyberpanther.
It can be somewhat frustrating to shop for corals on line. You can read all the rave posts, but then you go to the website, and don't know what they have. Especially, if you are not looking for a specific coral.
What do you do, call all the stores you know, and ask "Do you have any corals? If so, what? Could you list them all for me? "?
Thats a waste of everyone's time.
FWIW, Harbor Aquatics is not the only one guilty of a slow website. Others have lots of sold signs, with promises of alot more coming REAL SOON!
Uh-Huh.
Unfortunately, it seems somewhat common .

Just my 2 cents,
Basil

Start up your own reef business and online store and then tell us how easy it is. I'm dying to know.

Baalz –

That’s the main point. These are reputable companies that have to realize that they are in the business to satisfy their customers. When making a plan to do anything in business one must build in some contingency incase things occur. I agree 1 day is not much but we have become so accustomed to accept what companies say that we give them an inch and they take a yard.

Again I say that 1 day is no big deal and I see that they have changed their website to indicate a May 6th date. This is one time where a company has heard from their customers and reacted to satisfy their needs. Great for them.

Let me clarify something here. I nor no one else here (at least that I am aware of) is saying running a business is easy, but if that is what you so choose to do then you must be prepared for it. If you say that something is to be done on a certain day then it should be done or you should be prepared for the consequences (few customers and customers such as myself stating their opinion as everyone else in this country is allowed to do.) As I said before I did not mean to come across the wrong way and was having a bad day, but in no way do I disagree with what I have said before or now. If you start up your own business then be prepared. That's all. Not saying I could do it better, but then again that is not what my job is.

Good Lord, give it a rest. So Harbor doesn't have their webpage done when they originally projected they would have it complete. You *do* understand that there's only Joy and JT running the entire operation, don't you, and that JT is recoding the *entire* website by himself on top of maintaining the store, running to the airport at 2 AM when a shipment comes in, etc? The total number of retailers that actually have an up to date wysiwyg website I can count on my one hand and have fingers to spare and even then I don't consider them truely wsyiwyg. If it pisses you off that much, then you have too much time on your hands. Boy, I'd hate to be your employee.
