Hi,
I've been using Kent suplements for a few months with great results. While at my LFS (one that I trust or did) I was told if I wanted to drip all the supplements that the reef builder calcium and buffer could be used alternating evening drips to replace evaporation. I started doing this last week using the beginner amounts. My Ca went sky high like 580 (usually 450) I stopped dosing anything. I took a sample of the water to another LFS for testing, everything was fine Ca had come down to 480.
My question: Almost immediately after starting the Seachem stuff my hammer and brain started to receed. I did a water change when I first noticed this and ran carbon, however, a week later the same two corals look as if they want there skeletons exposed (still receeding). All other corals look fine but these 2 are the only ones I have with that type skelatal structure. I've tried direct feeding each but neither has ever been very easy to feed. I have noticed bugs running in and out of the hammer at night in the section that is receeding. Neither coral has any slime such as would be produced by a bacterial infection.
The hammer sits 3/4 up the LR structure under 175W MH x 2 and 220 PC....The brain is on the sand..80 G tank, 30 G sump 10 G refu.
Any ideas or remedies?
As always,
Thanks,
Todd
