thanks for the respones. after posting I did some research and discovered exactly what you have conveyed.

It is too bad that creatures such as that are made available to the general public!

Any one familar with a feather starfish? I saw a few at LFS yesterday. They look kind of like a sea whip when the feathers are expanded. Are they hardy and reef safe? Thanks

Crinoids are impossible to keep in captivity. IMPOSSIBLE. Goniopora is a piece of cake compared to these guys. Keep them in the ocean.

They are indeed beautiful creatures, but have nearly 100% chance of dying in a captive system. I'm very sorry to see an LFS carrying these animals as it amounts to a death sentence. Do some research on them, and then armed with your knowledge, attempt to tactfully discourage your LFS from carrying any in the future.

Thanks and well done for asking before buying. That's the smart and humane thing to do.
