People will shoot me for this, but you can usually get a good deal on them at Petco $12-$13 w/out MO. They are one of the few fish I would get at a LFS. They are tank raised and generally healthy. Even fish I ordered from some of the more respected MO places came with Ich.

I'll have to go and check out their stock. I've seen clownfish but never noticed captive raised ones... I could've just missed them. Being that they're hardy fish, I think that I may take my chances by buying them at Petco. Because I don't have any good local stores I think that I will still have to mailorder some fish... eigther that or I'll have to drive two hours each way to a decent fish store. Thanks

The tank raised clowns at petco come from ORA farms. ORA is one of the best for raising clowns. If you trust your petco's tanks then you shouldnt have a prob.
Find out what time they recieve there fish and be there to get... IF u dont trust...

Some petcos recieve there ORA shipment on a seperate day than there main order for all the other fish that come from Coast Tropical.

Hope this helps

you shouldn't really trust a supplier's tanks when purchasing fish (although there are a few very good LFS)-use a q-tank if you can. It will save you a lot of heart ache and hassle if you have any other fish in the tank to which diseases/infections can be passed to.

Would a 10 gallon tank with an under gravel filter with a skimmer be okay? Being that I'm only starting the hobby, I don't want to spend a whole ton of money until I decide that I'm really serious. Thanks!

I am sorry but I don't think it is OK to raise clown fish in this tank. You should learn about keeping fish and provide good enviroment for your fish.
The above tank is OK for a q-tank or a hospital tank, but not to raise your clown in. You can set up a perfectly good 10 g reef tank, but it is hard because it is too small. As a beginner, try to save enough money for a larger tank. IMO 29 g in minimum size for beginner salt water tank.
I hope you don't buy fish until you can provide good enviroment for them.

Whoa! No, I am going to keep them in a 65 gallon full setup but I was wondering if I could use a 10 gallon as a q tank. This is what happens when I try to type when I'm in a hurry... I leave out some key words. Sorry for the misunderstandings. Thanks

Novice,

For a false percula, you would be better off with a LFS, or like Olgakurt said, Petco. The price is right, they are very hardy, colorful and fun to watch.

I bought a tank raised one at my LFS 2 months back and am happy I did. I got a 1 inch juvenile. He always comes to the top of the tank when I walk by. Not neccesarily out of love. More than likely to get something to eat. The little devil.
