I have a little 25 gallon marine tank with about 21 pounds of live rock in it. I have the heater on there and a power filter and a power head and I have just left it with the lights on... feeding my juvenile emperor and my maroon clown (both awaiting the 90 gallon)....

anyway.. I have noticed these little white things on the front glass. Little pinhead bodies with 5 legs (exactly 5) each. A LFS suggested the idea that they could be baby star fish. There are about 30-50 of them I would say. Do you think that's what they are???

other possibilities. they are not bothering the fish.. and there of course are none of them on the fish either.

Hi Jeff. I get these also on new tanks but they never last. They aren't starfish, they're a much more simple type of organism. The name escapes me. You'll notice that they will grow together in patches and they tend to stay stationary.
