Jdeets,
I've read that 1 inch of full grown fish to two gallons of water... it didn't specify if it was for reefs or not. Could this be the 'calculation' for a fish only tank? Thanks
yellowboy- sorry I really can't help you as I'm still a novice and I don't want to be giving out incorrect information. Good Luck

I've typically heard you can stock FO as heavy as one inch per 2.5 gallons. So that's probably what that figure refers to.

You're at your max, if not over. Are you skimming? Water changes? What are the types of fish you are keeping, as no doubt they will grow.

How many fish can be put into a 20 before it might cause some overstocking problems and stuff like that with too high bioload. currently i have two less than an inch fish and one inch long fish and two cleaner shrimp some turbos, is there room for more?

It sounds like you're at capacity for a 20 gallon. For reefs, one inch of fish per 5 gallons is about max. One inch per 7.5 is even better. It sounds like you're already there, based on the full-grown size of your fish.

Time for a larger tank!
