hi meet my fish bubbles

hey, last night a friend was over and said i had issues when i told him the name of my fish...
Regas Tang is called Maya, my Clown is Called Bingo, I call my Scooter blennie fred, purple lobster is jarid. the dwarf pigmy angel name is stuby. and the six line wrasse is called tiger. do you name your fish? if so what are there names? and how did they get them?

IMO it is bad luck to name the fish. Besides, few come when called.

My mandrian I had for over 3 years was Mr.Paisley.

You name them, and you take better care of them (imo) they become more of a pet! When my husband has a hand in the tank they run away (or swim) . They come when I call (or I reach into the tank) though because I feed them

. They recognize the difference between my hand and his. Sailfin Sally goes right to the veggie clip if she sees my hand in the tank.

Damsil: Dern Destructive Damsil

Pusedocromis: Psyco-cromis (i no loger have this one, returned it to lfs because of attitude)
I would name the corals and snails, but the snails look alike and I would have to name each coral polyp.

I really enjoy my fish I could not imagine not naming my fish . it would be like not naming your dog

I've always thought the same thing. I'm reluctant to name any of the 100+ reptiles I've worked with over the years too.

It's cool to find out someone else has the same superstitions as I do.

My yellow tangs are named "Yellow Tangs", my flame angel is named "Flame Angel", my coral beauty is named........

My wife names the fish, but then she gets all misty eyed when something goes wrong, so she's stopped doing that...

I think mine stems from early childhood when we raised rabbits (for food and for sale) and Dad told me not to name the rabbits, but I did anyway and realized one day to my shock and horror that we were eating "fluffy"! To this day I can't eat rabbit. Unless it is fried, of course, or served in a stew or in paella, or roasted, not to mention BBQ. MMMMmmmmm!

My clown's name is Krusty.

He's (she?) in love with my bubble coral, it's really funny stuff. My wife says it's their 4 month anniversary, so I'm getting the two of them another coral.

I used to come up with all these really cute names for my baby lizards. Then they would die within a week. Finally, I quit naming them things like Yoda and Herbert and called one Goliath. He got huge. Then I just stopped all together because I had so many and I figured the curse would continue.

Didn't eat any of mine though
