My wife stopped at the LFS yesterday and bought me a candycane coral for my birthday. Obviously I was happy but would like to know the husbantry on it. Thank you.

Congrats! I have 2 in my 120, and both are mid-level on the rock. I have them under 400W 15,000 MH, in moderate flow. I drip Kalk for top off, and suppliment with SeaChem carbonate, and complete. They have been growing steadly in they past 8 months.

Hi Ken, just one quick question, is this ibanez from #rz? If so, where you been man?

Anyways, the candy cane are pretty hardy and it will appreciate indirect lighting if you have halides. It should start growing and splitting for you in no time.

I have a colony of Caulastrea also in medium current and lighting. I feed mine once in awhile at night when their feeder tentacles are out. It seems to help their appearence and growth.

I have the pale blue variety of candy cane and received it as a frag in June-01. Started out as 12 polyps and today there are 29! The whole time they were under a 400 watt MH either iwasaki 6500K or now a 10,000K hamilton along with 2x96 watt PC actinics in a 46 bow! Lots of light and the candy cane is on one side of the tank doing great. I was feeding with live brine but have been having trouble getting it lately.
