My 125 reef has been up and running for 4 mo. now and all water parameters, fish and corals are fine. I recently throughly cleaned my Aqua C 150 and since then it has been filling the 5gal. waste bucket every 2 days. I keep the water level inside the skimmer just below the inner platform as per the instructions. The waste water is light tea colored with not much smell. It only slows down when the water level in the skimmer is 2-3" below the inner platform, which happens automatically when the 30 gal. sump drops down.
I checked all the vent holes on the collection cup cover and skimmer body and they were clear.

Do you periodically adds water conditioner such as amquel, or do you feed heavily on phytoplex, DT's, or marine snow? All of the above will cause the skimmers to go crazy. Also, I find that if you place the EV150 above the sump (stack it up with plexi board) will yield a much more consistent skimmate quality.

I don't add any water conditioners or overfeed, the only things I add are B-Ionic, Iodine and strontium & molidbium. I have a light - medium bioload. The skimmer is on a 4" platform in my 30 gal. sump which I try to keep about 3/4 full. I have heard about venting modifications for the Aqua-C EV series. Has anyone tried this?
PS: On the bright side; at this rate I should'nt have to do water changes anymore.
