Has anyone noticed the new TWP cartridges? The green part is really dark now, right out of the box. This is he second batch I got like this and its hard to tell when they are done. They start to get these tan spots in them. Has anyone else had this problem?

After two years of using them, my last ones have been weird. I started using the spring, or they would all separate, never had that problem before. Color seems different as well. I remember the green turning purple, but now it just seems dark, as you say.
Luckily I have good tap water, but I've been doing the alkalinity test they talk about in the manual, to verify when to toss them.

Supposedly, they are supposed to turn tan. On another board someone told me that he had a similar experience. You think they would post something like that on the new box. Perhaps we should company and ask them what the deal is.

Never got the latest ones but the ones I always got had a frosted plastic case, so I had to remove the top cap and check the color of the resin itself. Could planly see if the resin was green or black (exhausted), not sure if that is the case with these new ones.

jhferry, I would like someone to other than me. I emailed them a few times about the different colors, it took weeks for answers. That was more about the separation..etc. They wanted me to send them the unit. I decided to just try new ones, and am on my third of a new order from MOPS.

However, I have an email into them for a Rena canister filter, and it has been one month with no response.

Using a flashlight helps show the seperation line of where you are as far as the cartridge being exhausted.

Did anyone ever call on the new TWP cartridges? Mine does have some tan spots in it, but water is testing okay for nitrates after use. Is the entire resin supposed to turn tan or purple?
Thank you

been using a twp for 2 years now and i agree the last 3 cartriges for me have been different. now they turn brown in the middle about half way through the useage, this concerned me so i disposed of it at that point, but since its been happening the last 2 times since then, i guess its just their new way or something.

To get back on track, I have just gone through another three (keep in mind I used these for two years plus). They ARE different, I was always able to see the purple come, and the green go....

Now, the first time I run the cartridge, it just goes dark. I am fortunate to have good tap water, some use it.

I will email them tomorrow.

Do not trust the color change, your cartridges may be exhausted before total color change. Better to go by the alkalinity test method. Sometimes in cases with resins, water channels form and that will 1. decrease its efficiency and 2. give false security.

Mine cartridge does the same as it turns brown in the middle half way through its usage. I also wonder if the make up of your water may cause different coloration in your cartridge. Johnny
