It's been over a year and I thought I might post some pictures of the tank and its status. It has been doing quite well I think:

First off, does anyone know what this creature is, with the tentacles coming out of the hole in the rock (right below the red feather duster):

I'm pretty sure those "tentacles" are foraminiferan colonies. Nothing to worry about. Harmless filter feeders.

Mabu, beautiful!!!

Observe those tentacles closely, do they seem to retract to a central area temporarily, with each one retracting and re-extending systematically?

Its a type of sedentary Holothuridea. Really cool to have, no threat posed.

Yes, the tentacles retract individually. It is the coolest thing to watch. They look like branches of a tree, but if something gets near them, they grab it and drag the food into the center hole. I am not worried about it posing a problem in the tank. I'm just fascinated with this creature. I cannot imagine anything more horrifying than a very large version of a creature such as this while I'm scuba diving.. ha ha

The camera used for the pictures was a Nikon Coolpix 990.

Thanks for the kind words!

Yeah, I have one of these in my tank. I posted a question about it in the hitch hiker forum and noone answered. But, they are pretty cool to watch.
